Big Number Calculator
Enter two whole numbers of any size and choose an operation. You get every digit of the answer, the number of digits and the answer in scientific form.

How we calculate it
A normal calculator keeps only about 15 digits. This one works with whole numbers digit by digit, so every digit of a sum, difference, product or power is exact. A power is worked out by repeated squaring. Division gives a whole-number quotient (cut toward zero) and a remainder, which has the sign of the first number, so that quotient × second number + remainder equals the first number.
For example, 2^100 is 1,267,650,600,228,229,401,496,703,205,376, which has 31 digits, and 99,999,999,999,999,999,999 + 1 is 100,000,000,000,000,000,000. Commas and spaces in the numbers you type are ignored, and the answer is shown with commas.
Assumptions and limits
- Each number can have up to 500 digits and the answer up to 2,000 digits. For a power the exponent must be a whole number from 0 to 10,000.
- Only whole numbers are accepted. For a decimal answer to a division, use the long division calculator.
- Zero to the power of zero is not defined, and dividing by zero is not possible.
Frequently asked questions
Why can a normal calculator not show 2^100 exactly?
Ordinary calculators and spreadsheets store a number in a fixed amount of memory and keep about 15 digits. Larger numbers are rounded, so the last digits are wrong. Here every digit is kept.
How do I find the remainder of a huge division?
Choose Divide. The result shows the whole-number quotient and the remainder, so quotient × divisor + remainder is the number you divided.
How many digits does a number have?
The Digits line counts them for you. A number with n digits is between 10^(n−1) and 10^n, so the scientific form shows the same size as a power of ten.
