How these education calculators work
Grades are usually averaged by weight. A GPA is the sum of grade points times credit hours, divided by the total credit hours, so a three credit class counts three times as much as a one credit class. The GPA Calculator uses the common 4.0 scale. The Weighted GPA Calculator adds extra points for honors, AP or IB classes, but schools differ on how many, so check your school's own scale before you rely on the result.
The Final Grade Calculator works backwards from the grade you want. If the final counts for a share of the course grade, the score you need is the target minus your current grade times the share already graded, divided by the weight of the final. The Weighted Grade Calculator combines assignments that have different weights, and the Test Score Percentage Calculator turns points into a percentage. Each page shows its formula and a worked example, and each result is an estimate: your teacher's gradebook is the final word.
