How we calculate it

Business days are Monday to Friday. The calculator counts the whole weeks in the range, which hold 5 business days each, and checks the leftover days one by one. A holiday you list is taken off once if it falls on a weekday inside the range.

From 2 to 31 March 2026 there are 30 calendar days, 8 weekend days and 22 weekdays. With one holiday on Tuesday 17 March, the result is 21 business days.

Assumptions and limits

  • Only Saturday and Sunday are treated as the weekend. Some countries have a different working week.
  • Public holidays are not built in because they differ by country and year. Enter the ones that apply to you.
  • Holidays that fall on a weekend or outside the range are ignored, and a repeated date counts once. The range can be up to 100 years and up to 400 holidays.

Frequently asked questions

What counts as a business day?

A weekday from Monday to Friday that is not a public holiday or another day off you choose to skip.

Is the start date counted?

You choose. Counting both days is common for work schedules. Counting from the day after the start is the usual way to count days until a deadline.

How do I add holidays?

Type each date as year, month and day, such as 2026-12-25, separated by commas, spaces or new lines. Only holidays that fall on a weekday inside your range change the answer.
