Tip = bill × tip percentage ÷ 100. Total = bill + tip. Each person’s share is the total divided by the number of people.
For a $86.50 bill with an 18% tip, the tip is $15.57 and the total is $102.07.
How to read your result

Common mistakes
- Tipping on the bill after tax is a choice, not a rule. Many people tip on the pre-tax amount.
- Forgetting that some restaurants already add a service charge or gratuity for large parties.
- Splitting the check evenly when people ordered very different amounts.
- Counting a service fee as a tip. A delivery or booking fee often does not go to the worker.

How much should I tip?
