Your numbers
How we calculate it
The countdown is the number of days from the date you count from (today by default) to the next Christmas. If the date has already passed this year, it points to next year.
Christmas falls on December 25. The calculator works the date out from that rule for each year, so it stays right as the years change.
Dates of Christmas for the next five years: Friday, December 25, 2026; Saturday, December 25, 2027; Monday, December 25, 2028; Tuesday, December 25, 2029; Wednesday, December 25, 2030.
Assumptions and limits
- The countdown is in whole days, from midnight to midnight, not to the hour.
- Christmas is a U.S. federal holiday. When December 25 falls on a Saturday, federal employees take the Friday before off, and when it falls on a Sunday they take the Monday after (5 U.S.C. 6103). The calendar date does not move.
- Change the "Count from" date to count from any other day, or switch the event to your own date.
