Your numbers
How we calculate it
The countdown is the number of days from the date you count from (today by default) to the next Thanksgiving. If the date has already passed this year, it points to next year.
Thanksgiving falls on the fourth Thursday of November. The calculator works the date out from that rule for each year, so it stays right as the years change.
Dates of Thanksgiving for the next five years: Thursday, November 26, 2026; Thursday, November 25, 2027; Thursday, November 23, 2028; Thursday, November 22, 2029; Thursday, November 28, 2030.
Assumptions and limits
- The countdown is in whole days, from midnight to midnight, not to the hour.
- Thanksgiving is a U.S. federal holiday and, because it is set as the fourth Thursday of November, it always falls on a Thursday (5 U.S.C. 6103).
- Change the "Count from" date to count from any other day, or switch the event to your own date.
