How we calculate it
The countdown is the number of days from the date you count from (today by default) to the next Easter. If the date has already passed this year, it points to next year.
Easter falls on the Sunday set by the Gregorian church calendar, between March 22 and April 25. The date comes from the Gregorian computus used by Western churches: the Sunday after the first ecclesiastical full moon on or after March 21, so it can fall anywhere from March 22 to April 25. Orthodox churches that use the Julian calendar celebrate on a different date.
